ruki wasn't one to stay within the boards of digimon online. most were full of newbies with far too many questions that they should already know; if they played the damn game. from time to time she went upon and made sure there wasn't anything that needed a moderator's attention. seeing a post from 'gogglehead' she knew instantly that it was takato. and while he could be naive at times, she knew that he knew a lot about digimon. so his thread was worth checking out.

it appeared there were otamamon abducting others. a first she'd head of such things. and it didn't bode well. otamamon weren't dangerous digimon, and she doubted they had the brains to carry this out by themselves. something was happening, maybe a higher level digimon commanding them? it was possible. but to know fully, it needed to be explored. after a quick log out to eat, shower and make sure everything was fine in the real life world, ruki logged back into the game once more, and, once again, was greeted by her partner upon arrival. her name flashed lupo, her username and nickname within the game, although only takato knew her real name.

unless there were others in the game that were from her school or area where she lived.

regardless, she had made it to shell beach, eyes scanning the horizon for any signs of potential trouble. while she saw nothing but calm. no signs of abductions, but then, if there were signs, it would have been picked up sooner. sneaky blasted digimon. "we need to find out why. i doubt mere otamamon can think of a plan this cruel. they're supposed to be friendly." otamamon were friendly, not mean digital monsters, so it was rather odd that they would go out of there way to abduct. which lead her back to her theory of someone being behind it. if digimon, she'd attack. if a human player was behind it, ruki wondered if she had permission to suspend their account. that way they could check into the activity and then ban them; if it was a bannable offense.

"i've never heard of otamamon doing such acts." renamon murmured, icy eyes glued to the surroundings, more able to pick up things ruki wasn't able to. while in the game, she still had human senses. nothing had been changed to that. but renamon was more than human, and thus was able to pick up a lot more. "gogglehead should be here soon." ruki had given her partner a nod when renamon had spoken, and now they were waiting for gogglehead, aka takato, and his red dino digimon, guilmon. being patient wasn't her strong suit, but she knew takato would arrive. if he said he'll be there, he'll be there.

Imagine his surprise when he heard about that strange otamamon abductions. Even more so when he'd actually seen one person being tugged off at a distance! It was actually kinda creepy. What if they got him and guilmon? Guilmon's attacks were heat based. They couldn't take that on - they didn't even have any techniques yet! So, he was pretty lucky when Ruki came along like she did. Oh man, oh man was he gonna need her help with this thing. (Even if it was the staff member's job to take care of things like this.) "There they are!" Takato waved at them obnoxiously as he ran towards them. Guilmon was at his heels, swinging his arms in an awkward manner. "Luuuuupo!" For once, he remembered to use her username. It probably wasn't the smartest thing to shout out her real name this time around. There could be others! He stopped quickly in front of them, crouching with his hands on his knees. Man, even in a video game, he got tired. The crazy world even takes those things into account, huh? "H - hey there," Takato managed between pants. "I hope I didn't take too long?" He laughed nervously, like he always did, before straightening. The gogglehead was struggling to keep himself from panting, and combed a hand through his messy hair. Guilmon waved to Renamon, grinning all the while. "Renamon, how are you ~ ?" ooc: sorry for the delay!

ruki worried, not that it ever showed upon her normally guarded features, mainly about the abductions, and the more time that passed, the more she worried that takato had gotten abducted too. banishing those thoughts, because she knew takato wouldn't get abducted. everyone else could and while she would worry(as she had to, befitting her role as game moderator), she would worry more for takato.

no sooner had those thoughts passed did takato and guilmon appear, takato waving his arms and guilmon drawing out her username in one, big breath. silly red dino. "gogglehead, guilmon." ruki spoke when they got close enough, giving them a respective dip of her head as well as in greeting. "any longer and i would have had to assume you got abducted as well." ruki spoke, the corners of her mouth barely twitching upwards to show she was smiling. while vocals were in the tones of serious, she was half jesting: not that most would realize that.

"we've been here only a few minutes." she added, as renamon looked up and down at guilmon, studying the red dinosaur with intense eyes. those eyes softened as she held up a claw in greeting. "hello guilmon. and you too gogglehead." she nodded towards takato. "i am well. and you? i hope to find you well?" ruki left the two digimon to talk while she looked at takato. "we need to find an otamamon. hopefully we'll get one who has been kidnapping, or knows about it. i would imagine some otamamon would not be in the loop." if he had any ideas, questions or concerns he was allowed to speak of them. she would grant him that.

"if, at the end, something, or someone, is behind it, it may need be that we'll have to fight." takato and guilmon would need to fight as well if it came down to it. ruki wouldn't do it alone. yes she was stronger, and renamon had more techs and even an evolution, but they were a team. and teams worked together.

"Ehehehe." Takato scratched the back of his head awkwardly. Having finally gained his breath, he stood up straight. "Not exactly, but we did see one guy get pulled away." He frowned a little. "There wasn't anything we could do then. Guilmon isn't really ..." There were no other words to describe how distracted his digimon had been. More over, he didn't even find them a threat! That was really strange!

"Mhm ~ !" Again, Takato had to look at Guilmon. For such a fierce digimon, he sure had his moments where his tamer just had to stop and stare. Powerful things sure come in surprising packages. He thought before turning his attention back to Ruki.

"Y - yeah." He coughed awkwardly. Maybe they could earn a tech from this so they wouldn't be dead weight. Guilmon's claws and teeth were sharp, but nothing beats a wicked fire blast -- 'sides, he's been eager and wanting to see Guilmon use a technique for the longest time! Here's his chance!

Takato grinned. "They won't be too hard to find. Guilmon here can sniff 'em out!" He turned to the red dinosaur, who looked up at him with a toothy grin. "Right boy?"

"Hai Takatomooon!"

"Okay, let's go find them!"

And with that, Guilmon began to wander around. His snout was high up in the air, sniffing around very much like a dog.

ruki almost hissed. having zero techs, and being alone, was a good reason not to go after the otamamon. but why did he not say that when he first arrived? "where was he picked up?" it would be a place to search, see what lingered around there, see what scents the pair's digimon could sniff out. "you did the right thing." as much as she hated to admit, gogglehead did do the right thing. he could have been snatched and ruki would have more trouble finding answers. at least now they knew of one location where a kidnapping had occured. they could potentially find more.

"not with us on the case." she commented: they'd find the answers, she was sure. there was four of them and four was better than two, or one. "renamon, you help to." ruki commanded. guilmon was probably more able to sniff them out, but renamon wasn't entirely useless. she could look one direction, guilmon the other. renamon nodded while ruki began searching through her digivice, storing notes to take to the center later.

"he's really hyper." ruki couldn't help but say, watching guilmon. the red dino was too much for her, preferring renamon's serious nature, that was much like her own, rather than a digimon with bursts of energy. and yes, she realized that it could be taken the wrong way, that she was dissing guilmon but she wasn't. an observation that didn't mean anything negative.

renamon sniffed the air, eyes narrowing to slits. no doubt guilmon would be able to smell it too, giving a sideways glance at her comrade in arms. the scent itself was faint, so they would need to track it, but it was a start. ruki pulled her digivice satellite closer; whatever digimon came into renamon's site would be recorded into her satellite and ruki would be able to get the data.

"found something renamon?" the girl tamer asked.

"something is wrong." the vulpine kept her eyes ahead, sniffing the air. it smelled like trouble.

"I know." He replied sullenly. It was another reminder that he needed to get stronger. They couldn't even fight off a small heard of otamamon and save someone. He needed to be as cool as superdude! and Ruki. Eventually, one day, he will. He still needed to catch up.

"H - huh? Oh, yeah. Kinda." Takato blinked. He wouldn't trade him for anyone else though. Guilmon's a good digimon, even if he had his quirks. He was a good boy. "Nothing wrong with that though, right?" He grinned. Takato wasn't going to mention that he was involved with Guilmon's design, but hey! Ruki here was staff and all. All official and stuff. "Renamon really does suit you, you know?"

He stopped at the entrance to a dark cave neither of them had seen before. "... you sure this is the place, boy?" Takato asked, though he knew that there was no way that Guilmon's nose could be wrong. The digimon found even the smallest digimon with only a tail whiff and a chase. They had to be here.

Guilmon suddenly stiffened. His teeth gleaming as he pulled back his lips. He growled lowly, eyes sharpening on their unseen target. Takato looked back to Ruki, "you ready?" He gulped, gripping onto the back of Guilmon's neck to make sure he didn't go charging into the fray.

Hidden in the darkness of the cavern, red eyes leered at the intruders. They weren't all that happy to find their territory was being invaded.

"nothing wrong with that at all." ruki replied, speaking the truth and averting her gaze. honestly, this niceness wasn't her, even if part of her liked being nicer than crueler. "sometimes it can be good." or awkward, depending on the situation. ruki clearly remembered renamon's coy display with strabimon and blinked towards her. "uh, thanks? yes, thank you." at first she wasn't sure if it was a jest but she took it as a compliment, which meant her words were softer.

as the cave stood before them, renamon seemed as tense as she ever was. something was in there. ruki glanced over at guilmon, noting the digimon had similar reactions. "i was born ready. you?" ruki asked the other tamer, before renamon darted forwards, making sure those red eyes remained on them and not their human partners. "otamamon! we know you're in there. so tell us why are you kidnapping others?" ruki called; if there was no answer, or an attack, ruki wasn't going to be all that surprised. still, she had to try before simply attacking.

"we should keep one for talking." renamon spoke, eyes never leaving the cave. "good idea. can't have all of them turn into data." ruki pondered, giving pauses for takato to offer his thoughts. hopefully this would be over quick, the otamamon not takato.

ruki would allow takato to attack first. he needed the experience, but that didn't mean she'd leave him hanging, so to speak.

didn't take long for one of the purple digimon to inch closer, red eyes glowing as hot as coal. red eyes, red, "red eyes, this isn't good." ruki commented, stating the obvious. "you shall not know!" the red eyes blinked as the digimon spoke. "lullaby bubble!" it called, causing renamon to leap back, ready to barrel into guilmon if the attack got too close to him too.

"O - of course we're ready. R - Right, Guilmon?" The digimon mentioned gave a happy bark, "That's right, Takatomon." Any other moment, he would have facepalmed, but right now, he needed to keep his eye on the goal. The mission that he was allowed to tag along with Ruki. The taming of these otamamon.

While Renamon dodged with ease, Takato jumped into Guilmon's arms as the bubbles attacked. "W - waaaa!" Once the attack was gone, he paused, stared at Guilmon and fell out of his arms. "I totally meant to do that." The explosions in the game were so lifelike! He hadn't faced that yet! And these were child level digimon! Just imagine if they weren't! UGH. He needed to shape up.

"Come on. We can do this Guilmon." He pointed to the red eyes. The goggle head wasn't going to let them make a fool of him. He was better than that. He was gonna be the best tamer there ever was with a digimon that he created. "Let's go!"

... And he and Guilmon both went charging into the darkness.
