It was a rather odd situation to find oneself in. Forced to partake in an online world to repay an owed debt, Jenny Lynn Walker found herself hesitant to enter the arcade-styled building. People of all ages, colors, and creeds were lining up to try out these pods and give this new system a shot. But it seemed too… faked? And it was also far too open for her liking. Needing a less public place, the woman slipped out her cellphone and pulled up a note she typed in a few days ago.
She had been warned about engaging in the activity in a highly public place for such visibility could jeopardize the mission. It was one of the reasons she was given a specific address. The man that posted her bail instructed her to go to a grungy location to find a few machines that were to be used by "the chosen ones."
At first, Jenny just thought this was all some kind of joke, but, being a police academy graduate, she knew better than to just assume all things to be a game. Hence, her investigating of the virtual reality pods. After her eyes had finished glancing over this crowded building, she backed herself out and took off to find the address given to her.
As she moved away the flooded store, the blonde would worm her way down alleys and back roads until she finally landed at the mouth of a rundown building. The large letters that had seen better days were coated with filth and the M in GAME-EZ was knocked out of place. The doors were covered with police tape and the sign in the window said it was condemned. But since when did this blue-eyed babe obey the rules printed for all to read? She was a vigilante and a self-proclaimed badass detective (she liked to believe she was the female version of Sherlock Holmes) who wouldn't dare pass up such a rare opportunity.
Sneaking around the back of the side of the building, the woman finagled her way in threw a broken window. Dust covered her face and her hair was no longer properly brushed. Still, she was in.
Boots echoing across the floor, she approached one of the three large pods.
"This must be what he was talking about."Running a hand through her hair, the woman looked over her shoulder before taking the third pod. As the doors closed around her and the system engaged, Jenny left a wave of anxiety wash over her.
Was this really a good idea?
Those blue orbs absorbed the world. They took in its breathtaking beauty as the nose filled with the sweet aroma that could only come from freshly bloomed flowers. The wind tousled her hair and the song of birds bright a look of awe to her features. Everything around her was truly stunning. It felt… so… real.
But it was just a game. Wasn't it?
No, it was much more. It was a second chance.
"Knock it off," the woman grumbled. A nuzzling, crawling notion on her thighs was beginning to piss her off. She didn't come here to have some little kid hit on her.
The notion continued. Raising her hand in a beating motion, the woman stopped just short of hitting the black furred creature that looked nothing like she had ever seen before.
"Eh?!" Eyes dilating some and then narrowing, Jenny bent at the hips to inspect the creature that dared approach her.
"Whatcha want, punk?" Hands on her hip now, the blonde gave the monster a standoffish glare as she awaited an answer.
"Why, I'm BlackGabumon, your partner. Don't you remember picking me?""I did what?" A hint of confusion was mixed in her voice.
"I didn't pick anythi-" She cut herself short when she recalled a service that appeared prior to waking up in this world. She did hit the one with the word "black" in it. So she picked this thing? A unicorn-horned, fur-wearing, lizard monster thing.
Cute.
Blinking twice, Jenny crossed her arms over her chest. Paying no attention to her so-called partner, the woman looked around the city, Asuka City. Things were going to be interesting. Very interesting.
With new found curiosity leading her, Jenny Lynn Walker (bulletBabe) began exploring the city. What laid in her wake was truly a mystery but she didn't care. She took those strides toward the unknown with confidence.
