The leaves of a palm tree thrashed about as if a violent wind had just flown through. It stopped in a heartbeat the moment the shadow that went through it passed, bits of the scrapped parts of the leaves raining down on the dirt below. Passing right underneath the palm tree was Ronin, running in full speed with his clenched fists swinging with his arms.
"Seen anything yet, Strabimon?" Ronin yelled to the sky.
The moving shadow dropped gracefully on the ground, standing in full length. His long, tattered scarf tailed behind him in the air because of the sea breeze. His nose was pointed up and his ears stood tall. "I saw a few Otamamon and a player with them. There are at least five."
Ronin caught up to him. "I can't believe it's true," he said. "I guess we should help."
"Because it's our responsibility?" his Digimon, Strabimon, asked.
"As a staff? No. As a good passerby with a heart?" Ronin sighed. He shook his head and ran toward the beach. "Most probably."
Ronin had heard of rumors of Otamamon abducting people. The rumor was a bit old but he had only heard about it recently when he overheard it from a chat in Asuka. It wasn't anything important. Rumors come and go from mouth to mouth all the time. It would have probably been due to erasing in his memory had he hadn't bumped into a terrified tamer who told him what was going on. The tamer told Ronin that the game had "fucked up" and wild Digimon were beginning to kill humans. Ronin did not believe everything he hears but the true terror at the look of the tamer's face was worth checking out. Strabimon had affirmed that there are Otamon on the beach but just because there was a player with them, it didn't mean player killing was taking place. Whatever it was, it sounded like that the player was in trouble.
Ronin doesn't make it a habit to intervene in battles but he had a pretty bad feeling about this. He didn't know if he wanted to be wrong about it. If it turned out he had fussed over nothing, he would look like a total idiot. On the other hand, if it turned out that he was right, well, besides the obvious, Ronin would still look like a total idiot. It was just a game. There was no merit in being heroic other than bragging rights.
But here he was, going in anyway, trusting his gut instinct.
"I've been playing this game way too much." [/i] [/div]
