Two players were exploring the dense forest of the ruins. They stuck close together, heads inclined at the dark shroud of darkness seemingly coming from the leaves. The wind (where could it be coming from?) would cause the leaves to rustle as if they were giggling among themselves.
"The developers are trying too hard," one of them commented, annoyed to hide the underlying insecurity. "Even if something comes at us, it's not like we won't be able to protect ourselves. It's not horror when you're not helpless."
"None of our Digimon can evolve though," the other said.
But the player dismissed his concerns. "It would be a two against one. We'll stand a chance."
But the unknown was not to be challenged. It was full of surprises no one could be truly prepared for.
"What was that?" the second player demanded, freezing on his spot.
"The wind," the first one said flatly.
"No, I heard something - in the bushes."
The Gotsumon beside the player frowned. "I think there's a Digimon."
"Finally, some action to get our minds off this awful place."
The other Digimon - a Fanbeemon - looked at its tamer. "I thought you weren't scared?"
"I'm not," he emphasized, rolling his eyes. "When did awful mean scary?"
As they squabbled, the watching trees became a passive audience and the noises became mere sound effects. But a true pair of eyes was observing them from within the trees. Not a Digimon but a human. His blue satellite swiveled in place from above his head. He only needed to think of the magic words to decide their fate.
"Blast plug..." he whispered breathlessly, staring intently at the small group below as they approached the source of the noise. "Child level."
"What the - "
Light burst from the bushes. A wicked grin carved across the boy's face.
Did you know Lucius meant light?
