[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellspacing,0,true]And I will hold on to hope. Ronin sneezes.
"I can't be sick in a game, right?"
Strabimon places a finger to his chin and ponders. "Hmm, I'm not quite so sure, Ronin. It is similar to status ailments, which Digimon and players can acquire."
Sounds logical. Doesn't make things easier but it's not a big problem. Solutions are pretty easy to find in an online game. Rest for injuries, antidotes for poisons, heals for paralysis - if he gets sick, all he'll have to do is buy some sort of medicine and get better instantly. Ronin tugs his jacket closer, eying the solid lake of ice with a small glint of excitement and steps into the frozen field. He catches his balance before his feet slips off and then he takes another step forward. He can feel Strabimon's eyes on him.
"Ronin...?"
"Just watch," Ronin assures, spreading his arms in the air, trying to get a feel of the slippery surface. He pushes himself forward with his foot, skating steadily for a few feet. Ronin pushes again, this time with his right, moving several feet more. He repeats it with more boldness, leaning forward to boost acceleration but his foot suddenly curves so his legs part into a split and Ronin stumbles forward, arms flailing.
"Ronin!" Strabimon shouts, running toward his fallen tamer. The claws at his feet leaves dents and scratches on the ice. He grabs Ronin - who is hissing from the pain - over by the shoulder and helps him up. "Ronin, what were you thinking? Has the sickness started to addle your mind?"
God, it stings worse than he remembers it.
"I'm okay, Strabimon. I didn't break any bones or anything...though it sure feels like it," he says, grinning.
Strabimon frowns. "Why are you smiling, Ronin? Your behavior is strange. It worries me a little."
"Never heard of ice skating?" Ronin asks, pushing his bandanna back above his head. "I guess I'm being a bit childish. I haven't done this since I was nine, or maybe ten." He stops, eying at a strange Digimon that seems to be talking. To his surprise, the Digimon vanishes.
"Huh, what was that?" Ronin says in bewilderment.
"It's from the new event, Ronin," Strabimon explains. "It's part of the Halloween event MAGAMI has set up."
Oh, right, Halloween. He hasn't been following on what was going on because of midterms but he read it in the passing in his inbox.
"Do we need to do something?" Ronin asks.
"As per your work? No, I don't believe so."
He looks at the player that the event Digimon was talking to. Ronin notices that the man also has a red satellite like his.
Ronin isn't really interested at the Halloween event but it doesn't hurt to ask. He skates toward the man and awkwardly forces himself to stop before bumping into him. At least he didn't fell.
"What was that Digimon saying?" he asks, direct and straight-forward. | notes: --- | |
