normal tamer
The best part of the game, Gourmet learned, was the exploration.
Previously, cities were all he'd ever known; sure, they'd sometimes taken field trips or vacations out of LA when he was a kid, but that never allowed for much unsupervised adventure. Wandering off would have been a death sentence--if not from the unforgiving wilderness, then by his parents once he was found again.
But here, like most video games, mistakes of that caliber only led to some lost time and forced backtracking. He hadn't been that careless yet, but it'd been comforting to keep in mind when he'd logged in this evening with plenty free time and zero goals at hand. With nothing to guide them, they'd wandered into East Sector, and from there they'd set off on what Gourmet assumed had been the longest hike in his life. From Wire Forest to Tyrano Valley, he thought they must have gotten a small glimpse of nearly every zone in the area.
Now, simulation or not, both boy and Digimon were swaying from exhaustion as they descended the steps into the station. The furred dragon clung to its tamer's pant leg like a child, forcing Gourmet to take extra care not to trip down the stairs when it failed to keep pace with his longer stride. The task held his concentration until reaching the platform, so it was no shocker that he didn't notice the girl right away; it wasn't until he'd helped the DORUmon down the last few steps that he found a chance to glance around, but when he did, his face lit right up.
"Excuse me!" While openly wearing the fatigue he felt, Gourmet was rarely too tired to fish up some friendly enthusiasm for strangers. He closed the distance with a few quick steps after disengaging DORUmon's claws from his jeans and nodded toward the long, empty tube stretching past them. "Didn't the train come?"
Hmm. Not exactly what he meant to ask, but the woman could probably figure it out.
Behind him, his Digimon sniffed the recently vacated bench, then climbed atop it and curled up where the other human had been sitting moments before. Warm spots were not to be wasted.
