count to ten and back again, ruki waited for anything to show up to her call. sure enough, within seconds of her emitting her challenge did something appear, an insect by the looks of its thick, worm-like body. yet, worms didn't have stingers on their rears other little additions. ruki gave a smirk before realizing one big thing. it was not one digimon that appeared but four. four freaking digimon for her to fight, and to win. yes, failure was never an option. one would have been rather easy to beat, but with four, ruki knew renamon had to be fast and brutal. an advantage the kunemon had was they had techs that could use. renamon needed to rely solely on punches, kicks and bites for ruki hadn't had enough to purchase a tech for her digimon. still, this would be a good way to prove she was the best, for anyone could beat a digimon using techs. it took skill to beat a digimon without them.
"focus on one at a time renamon!" ruki demanded, knowing that by doing so, it would take out the digimon faster rather than attacking all four of them. renamon nodded, eyes narrowing as a feral look seemed to come over the fox digimon. launching herself at the nearest kunemon, renamon delivered a powerful kick, causing the poor digimon to fly back, the ground and digimon coming together with what seemed like a nasty hit. running across the ground, renamon began to attack the insect again, with a flurry of blows aimed to knock out the creature. "you're stronger than this renamon." ruki meanwhile, was hardly pleased with her partners progress, thinking that renamon should have dispatched the creature by now. "watch out!" was her next call, for renamon was busily attacking as to her tamer's instruction, the other three were weedling towards the fox before threads of silk, charged with electricity, spat from their 'mouths'. all three attacked in unison. glancing behind her renamon had seen the attack, but leaping out had only prevented one attack from missing.
two hit directly upon her, one on her stomach, the other on her leg, leaving scorched patterns on the snowy white fur, where the silk had touched. that wasn't all. the silk was electric, meaning renamon had no choice but to feel the electric shock reveberate through her entire system. "ahhh!" renamon had to cry out as the pain of being electrocuted ragged havoc on her body. ruki literally chomped on her lip hard enough to draw blood as she watched her partner suffering and writhing away in pain. and the kunemon kept inching closer, even as the shock abated, and renamon was able to stand upon her back claws. she lowered her body slowly to the ground and launched up and over the kunemon she had attacked before getting hit with the silk thread, giving it half a moment's glance when she realized it was out for the count. at least, it looked unconscious, and therefore it was no longer a threat.
that left three of them.
again she launched herself into the air, landing close enough to the kunemon to kick and then leap out of the way. in and out, attack once, leap out of the way. every time she leaped towards her new target, it meant she was in the middle of the three, and renamon knew they were forming a plan. with her attention on the target, she didn't see one kunemon lash out at her, before a sting was felt on her lower right leg. that damned insect stung her with its tail stinger! as she fell to her knees, a wave of dizzyness was overpowering, ice blue eyes closed for a moment.
"not good enough renamon." ruki growled, hands curled into fists. what was renamon playing at? the fox was wide open for another attack, and sure enough, the third kunemon stung her with its tail, on the same leg as the first one. then all three surrounded her and with their charged up silk, spat at her, her entire body was being covered in electric silk. everywhere it touched left more scorch marks, and renamon braced herself, sure enough, the pain of electrocution was rife, letting out an inhuman shriek of pain and agony and ruki's heart almost stopped in her chest. "renamon!" she yelled, the love she had for her partner evident in the one word, worry in her eyes. glancing around for anything to use, she picked up a stick and hurled it towards one of the insects, the stick hit its body and caused it to stop the silk discharge. the other two followed suit and renamon glanced over at her tamer, shakily standing on her claws again. she was not going to give up. but how much longer would she be able to remain standing? when would she be defeated?
no time to think as the kunemon looked at ruki, ruki looked back with a glare, and renamon knew what was about to happen. her only thought was on her tamer as the kunemon spat again. having anticipated this move, renamon was already moving, as fast as she could move to knock ruki out of harms way. only her tail got the silk, leaving smears of black through the fur, but the electricity was less agonizing.
a shocked ruki was covered by renamon's furry body, aware that she had just been spared being hurt, and a new resolve coursed through renamon's body. no one would attack her tamer! adrenaline hit and renamon was up and kicking one kunemon, as hard as she could, before slashing it with her ebonite claws until the creature was down for the count.
two down, two more to go. as the kunemon tried to regroup, renamon was there, ruki was still stunned into silence as she wondered what went wrong. then she found her voice. "you can do this." if needed, she'd use an hp disk, because another attack or two and renamon would definitely need it.
renamon used the same tactics on one of the remaining digimon, soon it fell leaving one more. as they squared off, renamon attacked over and over, yet before the kunemon fell to the rapid and aggressive movements of the fox, it lashed out, just grazing her with its stinger.
after a few moments, ruki looked around. "did we pass the test?" she called to no-one in particular. "renamon, why did you save me?" ruki asked as she padded closer, inspecting the damage. they'd head back so renamon could rest up. another battle would wipe out the fox. "you are my tamer, my partner." renamon smiled weakly, and ruki knew just how close she had come to losing this battle.
