Well, this was certainly one of the single most interesting things that had ever happened to her.
This 'game' was certainly worth every bit of the time and effort that she'd put into saving up for it, that was for certain. It was just like real life. She wasn't sure what she'd been expecting, really... Perhaps at least a remnant of digitization to make it obvious that this was not real life. But no, this world was as real as the one outside the pod - eerily so. She turned on her heel as she walked, stopping suddenly to turn and look at the digimon that was trailing behind her. Well, beside her. Her avatar was probably unusual in the fact that it looked nearly exactly like she did in real life, and she'd thought that she was decently tall, but he was matched with her. She'd been expecting some puffy fluff-ball of a thing, really... it had been a pleasant surprise when she'd received this option instead. He had yet to speak a word to her, nor she to him, so that probably needed to happen at some point.
"My name is Raiko." She said, raising an eyebrow at it curiously. She knew that he was male because they'd told her so when she'd received him. He looked at her, almost mirroring her expression. "I really don't know what you expect me to say to that. My name, as with all of my kind, is Strabimon." An amused look crossed her face - well, at least this digimon was on par with her. He'd told the truth. Wait... this was a computer program. Of course it had told the truth. This was crossing into some odd areas of her mind that she hadn't really bothered to think about. It was artificial intelligence, right? So did it consider itself a real thing, in this world, or was it aware that it did not really exist outside of the program. Or did it? She cleared her mind of the thoughts, resolving to consider them later. She reached out and touched her companion for the first time, not able to cover the expression of unique surprise that covered her face. It even felt real. There was really no wonder that this game was so popular all around the world.
She could see, smell, hear, feel... For half a moment, she wondered if there was food in this world. She should have done more research, honestly. She'd figure it out later, when she had to get offline to go to work. She let out a hum, looking around the city. They'd said to look for red satellites whenever she needed something... really, she just needed to know what to do next. At least, that's what she thought. She should probably ask a few questions of her own, learn about this world. It was crossing into that grey area that she hated - what was real and not real? Because she was cognitively experiencing it, did that make it real?
Strabimon crossed his arms and looked at her, not saying anything. "Well, unless you know something that I don't, Tra, we should probably ask around. Can you speak English?" She switched languages with the skill of someone who was fluent in both. He just nodded at her, shrugging at her previous statement. As he was easily as tall as she was, the pair of them looked around for a moment. Raiko was easily taken aback by the sheer number of people that were starting in this city.... Was it like this every day?
"We're not going to find anyone here. Maybe we should...?" Strabimon pointed a claw towards the road. She shrugged, taking off walking. Maybe they'd find someone that could at least point them in the right direction after they hit the outer edge of the mass of new players that was centered around the building they'd just left. After all, this was a game, and the worst thing that could happen was a game over.
Right?
