DyknightTwenty-one|Male | Player | Whichever | Joumei Fujiwara The Character "The Virtual World needs just as much diplomacy as this world, maybe more."
With these words of encouragement, Joumei Fujiwara bought the specialized pod DO required and started playing just last week.
Almost ever since he could read, Joumei had been obsessed with the online world. For him, it was a place of magic, a place where anything could happen faster than the speed of light, or even the speed of thought. It was a place where one could find anything and lose everything. It was all that any little boy could dream of, and more, and all of it was in the reach of his fingertips whenever, wherever, he asked.
Such a thing may have been impossible for some, but both Joumei's parent's were very well off, and happy to provide their only child with anything he earned. Something that Joumei was glad to do, as he grew to share in his parent's beliefs of 'You reap what you sow,' and 'Nothing in the worlds are free.'
With the internet always by his side, and his values firmly in place, Joumei grew up on the internet just as much as he grew in the real world. His two 'lives' reflected one another, 'learned' from each other. What he discovered in the real world was researched and broken down on the internet, and whatever he learned on the internet, he used in the real world so he could discover even more.
Over the years, the one thing Joumei always discovered was that, the whole of the internet was 'wild' and untamed. Unlike the actual world, the online communities one was almost lawless. People could, and did, get away with murder, theft and other even less reputable acts. Online, wars were being raged, and they were taking lives just as horribly as any 'actual' world. Perhaps people weren't physically shooting one another, but words had a way of being stronger than any bullet, and thanks to the internet, much faster. And, on the internet, words were permanent. The damage from them never went away, never healed, it was always there somewhere, even if not as an insult. They couldn't be avoided, and, sometimes, that was too much for people, they ended up dead, with the smoking gun in their own hand.
Out of all the horrible crimes he saw, Joumei figured the source of the problem was cyber bullying. If not for that, much of the virtual world would be at peace. People wouldn't 'hear' themselves be called horrible things, see secrets they had never told in the form of a video a 'friend' had taken in secret, never have their player killed time and time again just because they were a newbie, that or be completely ignored because they were new. While there wasn't much he could do about newbies in a game and PKing, he was sure he could put an end to Cyber bullying, and that in turn would put an end to those who PKed or harassed newbies just because they were new.
To obtain his goals, he'd start a movement that would make laws in the virtual world. Laws that would be enforced by people all around the world. Such people would be the police, the justice system of the internet, and be responsible for fixing content they saw by finding the person responsible for the crimes they had committed. Once found, the criminals would pay by finding themselves banned or blacklisted from the sites and users they had once tortured.(For the early days of his project, like now, before there are actual laws, Joumei plans to put his hacking skills to use.) Such criminals would rue the day they tortured someone just because 'the internet isn't serious' or because it was anonymous, and they would find themselves in a position much like the people they had hurt. Perhaps 'living' like this would cause people to give up, but Joumei didn't much care. Dying was a horrible price to pay for learning a lesson, but if it was the price for peace, Joumei would stand by to see it happen. After all, 'Nothing in these worlds are free.' With his ideal in mind, and the passion for it stirring, creating a fire inside him, Joumei knew exactly what he could do.
For years, his parents had been grooming him to work in the family business, to be a diplomat in the most volatile, war torn nations that could be found. Joumei saw no better world than the one online, the only problem was, his parents would never agree. There weren't any official occupations for what he planned, they didn't exist because few actual laws governed the internet. Of course, that was exactly what he intended to change, but good intentions didn't exactly rake in the money. As much as he loved his ideal, he'd never 'reap only what he sowed.' depending on it alone.
Going against his parents' wishes was not a possibility. If nothing else, they had taught him better than that. Joumei also believed that both of them DESERVED better than a cowardly son who'd take cover under an ideal, and run away from the truth.
For them, Joumei put all the extra time he could into getting, and then working, at part of the University's Public Relations Office. With this job, he had a start into an 'actual' occupation. It wasn't diplomacy, not by a long shot, but he'd certainly be dealing with people of all types. Plus, more importantly, he could live up to his parents ideals and still spend a little time doing what he actually wanted to.
Perhaps, for some, the arrangement would have been normal, sacrifice was part of life, especially for a University student. For Joumei though, putting his idea to the side at all, was major. He had grown up always getting what he wanted, always having things work out in his favor. He worked for things to be that way, but truth was, he wasn't used to settling, which was just what taking the PR job did. It became, 'what he would do when his Internet Diplomacy failed.' not, 'what he would do IF it failed.' Even so, he took the job and gave it his all everyday, cutting out almost all the free time he had left, but earning his parent's approval for his sacrifice.
With both of them on his side, at least for the time being, Joumei got into DO, figuring it was a good place to start his peace keeping side project as it was both relatively new and very popular. The PKing mechanic wasn't one he cared for, but he'd stand it if only because he couldn't put an end to it if it didn't exist. Besides, his problem was not with PKing in general, just the people who used it as an excuse to harass people. Surely, peace would be easier if PKing was illegal, but even he knew that wasn't going to happen, at least not in his life time. It was an unfortunate truth, but it wouldn't stop him from bringing peace and civility to the internet, and for Joumei, reaching that goal was all that really mattered.
Miscellaneous Real World Stats-
Goes by: Joumei or Mr. Fujiwara, never any nicknames of any kind, as he considers them insulting and childish. Therefore, he'll never call someone else any kind of nickname if he can help it.
The virtual world is an exception as he doesn't go by his real name. However his username, Dyknight, is never changed and it is what he'll ask people to call him. He will call other people by names that aren't their username, but only because it is practically necessary or because he is asked.
Actual Age: Recently turned Eighteen Occupation: University Student majoring in International Relations with a minor in Sociology. Lives on campus, as close as possible to the university so that his 'two lives' don't clash.
