POLLUXtwenty-six | male | staff | love/knowledge | elijah sokovski The CharacterHe'd always had an interest in computers - but it was his twin who got him interested in AI. AI, after all, was everything humans were not. AI worked exactly as it was intended. It didn't deviate, and if it did, something had gone wrong. Not like Elias. Elias had deviated, had always been wrong. Elijah had tried to hide it, to protect him from the world, and in the end, he'd failed. He'd almost lost Elias to his own stubbornness.
Not this time, though. He'd found him bleeding out in a tub of water, already unconscious. He'd thought he was already gone, already dead - but he'd been lucky. He'd found him quickly enough, dragged him from the water and bound the wounds, calling the hospital.
It had been difficult to explain what was wrong, considering the distinct lack of medical history. There were a lot of looks, a lot of serious talks about how much danger Elias had been in, about how close he'd been to losing him. He'd been young at the time - only eighteen - and it had hurt hard hearing it. He'd almost been responsible. He'd almost killed Elias.
He'd sworn not to make the same mistake. He doted on his twin through recovery, sitting through therapy sessions. He put off attending university to read into psychology, going through whole textbooks while waiting for Elias's therapy sessions to be over. He wanted to know everything about the human brain. How it worked, how it broke, and how it could be fixed. He poured himself into his studies, placing them second only to Elias himself.
Elias improved. He'd spent years struggling with his issues, and the addition of medication and therapy helped plenty. In time, Elijah went back to his studies - focusing onto AI more carefully. His studying certainly helped, giving him a leg up, and his dedication to his education meant he even managed to graduate early, top of his class.
Even if he did love AI, he had no idea what he was going to do with it. Digimon Online was a boon. They required programmers - those with experience in AI. Elijah applied, communicating clumsily through the language barrier, and despite his obvious setback, was hired just the same. The twins moved to Japan, taking a crash course in the language to get them caught up.
Elijah found he actually rather enjoyed the game. He enjoyed watching the beta testers, watching the AI he'd made for each individual digimon work it's magic. They made the game matter, and at launch, he bought a pair of pods - staff discount and all. He'd never wanted for money, after all, and what a better way to spend his time then playing the game he'd help make with his brother?
