Meet Nakamura Ryo; a 17-year-old, Japanese-born citizen who stumbled across Digimon Online and grew rather fond of the virtual reality aspect of the game. Here, you can plot any future roleplaying threads or in-character relationships with her~


Friendships

Ryo puts up a friendly front towards people she doesn't know all that well. She has quite a few acquaintances, but very few (if any) true friends in the outside world. Ryo is rather reserved and, no matter how difficult things feel for her, she refuses to show real tears to anyone. No matter how conversational she may seem, Ryo is actually rather socially-awkward when it comes to opening up about herself. It is for this reason that one should not take it to heart if she is ready and willing to listen to people go on and on about themselves, but not so ready to say much about her own personal life.

As a final little tip; she tends to bond quite well with boys, rather than having a plethora of "gal-pals" like most girls her age. It's something Ryo has prided herself with ever since she was a child and discovered her reckless, hoyden side.


Intimate Relationships

Ryo isn't much of a romantic as it is, and will possibly be looked upon as asexual. This can be bent for the sake of playful teasing, but that's about as far as it gets for her; a joking flirt here and there, mostly as a test of mentality.

Because of her boyish, and almost masculine persona, Ryo, as forementioned above, tends to get along better with men, so long as she is respectfully treated as one of the guys. She has had situations in the past in which she will get close to one of her guy friends, who will then make unwanted advances on her that wind up leaving Ryo feeling very uncomfortable. Her biggest unanswered question to the world would be, "Is it that impossible for a girl to be just friends with a group of boys and not want any romantic relationship out of it?"

Too long, didn't read; Just the thought of holding hands, slow-dancing, kissing, or getting at all touchy-feely with a guy has always given Ryo the heebie-jeebies. Intimacy isn't her thing, period.

Hey Bree, I think Kouji and Ryo would have an interesting dynamic together.

Kouji isn't into gaming. He played video games to kill time but he would never normally spend days playing games all the day as he is now. He's only doing this to earn enough money to "pay back" his parents for the birthday gift they gave him, which was the game itself. He's not very familiar with the culture in the Internet and doesn't really understand why people would waste time sitting in front of the computer all day. Kouji has this prejudice idea that people who play Digimon Online are the kind of people who would be troubling others and can't deal with reality. He doesn't really HATE or even dislike them. That's just the impression he gets. He won't even say this out loud so you don't have to worry about Kouji being so openly blunt. But there would come a time (when the time is right and maybe when he's more familiar with Ryo) when he would flat-out state that reality is more important than the game.

His first encounter with Ryo wouldn't be really any special. I think it's a type of plot where they just grow on to each other. Because of Kouji's purpose in the game, he's not really thinking of making friends but that doesn't mean he wouldn't end up having one. Maybe if we could have Ryo and Kouji go on some adventure together, it would be the start of it. He can seem a little cold but Kouji shares Ryo's social awkwardness sometimes. He gives the wrong impression and Kouji rarely does pleasantries. Even though Kouji isn't an avid escapist like Ryo, it doesn't make him that better with people. Though it might not be dealing with people Kouji has a problem with. It's most likely about himself.

The other aspect that interested me between the two are their mothers. It's hard trying to bring up what's going on in the character's real life because the boards available are only online. I was thinking that if the two of them became friends, the topic of mothers would benefit both of their character development. Ryo having a dedicated mom and Kouji being distant with his step-mom. Nacht (Kouichi's rper. Kouichi is Kouji's long lost twin if you didn't know Digimon Frontier) and I have agreed to let the two develop on their own before having the twins meet. Kouichi's about to find out about Kouji's existence and I'm planning of having Kouji learn the same soon.

Oh and Kouji's so embarrassed about playing the game he's put up with a ten-year-old avatar. It would be funny that he would turn out to be the more mature and calmer of the two.

Unrelated to this plot is Tomoki who experienced bullying his entire life. But rather than sink into depression about it, he's come to Digimon Online to fight his bullies there. I would like to develop Tomoki a bit more before meeting another bully-victim online so I would put this on hold for a future plot. Just throwing it out there for now!
