Ivan is a dark, brooding young man, who’s demons come from an extreme lack of self-confidence. His dad left his mother before he was born, and his mother, who loved him very much, died in a car crash when he was 5. The only other people in his family able to take him in were his grandparents, who raised him to the best of their abilities. While he lived a fairly normal life, he grew up feeling like the least competent of his guardian’s grandchildren. All the other one’s where athletic and smart, while he was nerdy and made poor grades due to always daydreaming in class. This self-afflicted inferiority complex led him to alienate himself from his friends and family, thinking he wasn’t good enough for them, while also causing him to push himself in everything he did.
This to him becoming the top of his class academically, he could never do any athletic activities well. This caused him to curse his frail body and caused him to go into even more of a depression. However, this all changed when he heard of Digimon Online. It was like a whole new world, one where physical strength didn’t matter, one where he could prove his worth, one where he could be happy. This place awoke several things that he held back, his thirst for power, lust, and desire for companionship. But he would quench his desire for those things his own way, and thus began the life of GrimPhantasm.
