CHECKMATE!!

Shell Beach was meant for relaxation and fun, but Morph wasn't here for either of those! This was time for serious business. This was a time for ass kicking and teaching the noobs a lesson: that they shouldn't crown themselves rulers of the digital world until they know what they're getting into, and who they're about to face.

Morph had signed right up for this battle with a complete stranger, without first consulting her Digimon partner. Beside her stood a panda bear, oddly dressed in a black and yellow striped costume. With antennas? And a stinger. What a bumblebee. Ever since she met the Digimon, he'd been spouting nonsense about returning to his Fanbeemon hive and serving his queen. It was cute, to say the least.

"Five more minutes! That's all he gets. Any longer than that, and I'm counting it as our win," Morph confirmed, punching her fist into her palm and firmly nodding. She wanted a good fight. Her Digimon had no techniques, but here was their chance to rake in the experience to become stronger. But what if they got their asses whooped by this kid? What if he was really meant to be king?! Then Morph would challenge him again and again and again, until the day she ground him in the dirt and could take his crown.

Panbachimon carried a bamboo pipe, swinging it and jabbing it in the direction of every human who walked by. He was trying to figure out which one was his opponent. He'd teach them to waste his time. Panbachi was on a journey. His queen needed him and there was no time to waste on petty battles with stranger. "Are you my opponent? What about you? You have a dinosaur. I can take on a dinosaur. And you have a dog. Cat. Bat. Demon." This was going nowhere. Where was his target?

GrimPhantasm strode through the sand like the king he felt he was, his pristine white cape blowing in the breeze. Along side him walked a gray dinosaur type digimon that what as all and two very muscular legs. As the pair walked the beach, the young king cursed his pride for accepting a match on such unfavorable grounds. He could tell his partner was afraid of the nearby ocean, and this sand would severely reduce his speed demon's maneuverability.

To give his feral partner, who he knew at least had a basic understanding of what he was saying, a gameplan, he said, "Now look, first, swallow your fear of the water, just stay as far away from it as possible, second, this sand will prevent you from using any of your fancy footwork, but remember, it can also be used as a weapon." Looking at his partner, who stared up at him with fierce determination behind his eyes, "And remember, failure is not an option." To which Gaossmon growled and nodded in agreement.

'Now to find them' however, that was going to be the easy part, for as soon as that thought crossed his mind, he saw a young woman and a wierd panda digimon asking for an opponent.

"Hey, miss would be queen!" He called out, "If your looking for your opponent, here I am" he said with a smirk, this was going to be too easy.

CHECKMATE!!

Was this her opponent? Morph didn't consider how rude her actions would be, but she burst out laughing, one arm over her stomach and the other jerking forward to point her index finger toward the Digimon. "He has no arms! What's he gonna do? Kick us to death? He won't even be able to get ahold of us! I guess you could say he's gonna 'need a hand.' Aha!" Morph laughed harder at this, but managed to keep her footing, despite the way her entire body shook with laughter and almost gave out beneath her. The poor Digimon was even worse off than a T-Rex! At least they had tiny arms.

Panbachimon, on the other hand, didn't find it quite as funny as his tamer did. He knew to never underestimate an opponent, no matter how puny or lacking they were in necessary limbs. This Gaossmon had a big mouth, and it wasn't something that the bumblebear wanted to get himself caught in. The stick of bamboo waved toward the duo, a greeting, and a way to get their attention.

"One rule: no cheating. This is a one on one battle. Don't call your friends. Wouldn't want to send them crying home too," Panbachi warned, tapping the bottom end of his bamboo on the sand twice, and standing up straight and at attention. He was ready when they were.

Morph wiped a tear from her eye, the back of her fingertips grazing her cheek as she too tried to stand and get a grip of herself. She could laugh later. She'd agreed to this battle and boasted that she would win. Concentration was key. "You are my king, correct? I hope you're as prepared as I am for this. No hard feelings when you lose either, kay kay?" the female teased, giggling and batting her eyelashes innocently toward the other.

GP just stood there, trying to glare at her as coldly as possible, but there was an undeniable clenching of the fists as the young woman stood there laughing at him and his partner. Gaossmon was also more than displeased with the woman's jaunt, and began growling uncontrollably.

But after the woman's obviously naive panda made the comment about no cheating, he simply smirked and replied, "You'd better find yourself a more realistic partner if you plan on becoming queen" he then turned to the panda and finished, "There is no cheating, just winning or losing".

With that, he sent his right arm out and pointed at the duo, "No more talking, Gaossmon, make it quick".

And with a roar, the tiny dino digimon charged at them with speed, which despite being hindered, was still quite impressive.

CHECKMATE!!

The kid had a point. Her partner was a panda bear in a bumblebee costume. A very serious panda, no less. How was anyone going to take him seriously when he didn't take that silly bee costume off? Unfortunately for him, it was fused to his skin. Morph was pretty sure he didn't have the choice to take it off, even if he wanted to. Finally though, once Morph had straightened herself out, brushed herself off, and taken a few careful steps back from where she knew the battle would occur, she felt ready. There was determination in her eyes and this oddly mischievous smirk on her lips.

"Prepare to meet your match, Panbachi grunted, a permanently bored look in his half-lidded eyes. But his guard was up. The bamboo stick, almost double the size of his own body, was at the ready. He had it lifted and gripped tightly, feet planted firmly in the sand.

Unlike the dinosaur, Panbachi didn't charge. He was taking a defensive approach. If Gaossmon got close, the panda would gladly beat him in the head with his stick. As the armless dinosaur did charge forward, Panbachi took one step in the other monster's direction and swung his stick like a bat, while Gaossmon's head was the ball.

Unlike his master, who's mind could be compared to an infernal machine, always processing things, analysing the strengths and weaknesses of his opponent while constantly forming and dismissing stratagems, Gaossmon was a predator. And while his mind was much more primitive than his masters, he did have his instincts, and as fate would have it, a little bit of GP's deviousness rubbed off on the dinosaur.

Knowing that Panbachi had range over him, Gaossmon never really intended on charging right into him, but insteading strafing away from the makeshift spear/bat, or whatever, right before coming into range of the weapon and kicking sand in the unsuspecting digimon's eyes. However, that plan was ruined as Panbachi swung wide, but as stated before, this was no blind charge, so as he saw the digimon ready his swing, Gaossmon ducked low, under the range of his bamboo, and also in a prime position to launch a powerful headbutt into his midsection once he made his full swing.

CHECKMATE!!

The bamboo stick didn't come in contact with dinosaur flesh, but instead smacked sand from the sky, thankfully saving his eyes from being blinded. But he was, indeed, left open for an attack. The only armor he had to protect his belly were a couple of black belts, and a very happy, pink button over his heart. If Digimon even had hearts. It wasn't enough protection to shield from the damage of the head that collided with his torso, knocking him back.

Panbachi slid through the sand, falling to his back and leaving a long indent in the beach where he'd slid. There was a wince, but the Digimon tried to get back on his feet before Gaossmon could take advantage while he was down. He was a plump bee, but his round shape made it easy to roll over with the right momentum, as if he were a ball.

A paw swiped across his mouth, spinning right around and swinging the bamboo with him. Panbachi didn't have the other Digimon's speed. He was, in fact, a little slow and relied on his tanking skills. With his stick, he'd have to keep up his defense and throw offensive attacks from where he stood. But he kept getting pushed around in this sandbox of a beach. Trying a new tactic, the panda spun his body round and round, inching closer to Gaossmon as he swung the bamboo stick. It would have been much more effective if he owned a sword. But he'd have to smack the other with a blunt object instead.

It was in this situation, that Gaossmon's fear became an advantage. As Panbachi slid closer to the shoreline, the tiny dino found that he couldn't go through with his charge. Hesitating for a few moments.

The tamer was about to command his partner to suck it up and finish his assault while Panbachi was still disoriented, however that didn't last long as the panda digimon began to spin around, heading toward Gaossmon like a slow moving tornado of pain. GP continued to let his digimon partner hesitate in fear of the ocean, and then just confusion at how to attack the spinning target, until he was about back to the spot where Gaossmon headbutted him before shouting, "Jump up in the air and clamp down on his head!".

His partner looked back at his partner and nodded before leaping into the air, and aiming his mouthy body towards the spinning panda's head, ready to clamp down on it with all his might, hopefully ending this battle.

CHECKMATE!!

From the top of Panbachi's head sprouted two long antennae. At the end of each was a ball. A spiked ball. From all sides, there were sharp, pointed, stinger-like thorns, ready to stab whatever they hit or touched. It was Gaossmon's choice if he really wanted to take a bite of the panda's head and have those lethal antennae down his throat.

Panbachi was so round and it almost looked like he had no neck. To see upward and even figure out where the dinosaur was coming from, he'd have to bend his spine backward as far as he could. But all the spinning was making the panda grow dizzy. He couldn't even see where he was or which direction he was going with. Whether Gaossmon successfully bit onto his head and took the morning star antennaes into his throat or not, Panbachi's spinning brought him tumbling toward the water, with or without the other attached.
