METHUSELAHeighteen | male | staff | --- | jinzo akuna The CharacterOld man Jin is surprisingly open minded to the younger generations; not that he understands a word of their lingo. He struggles with it and often takes things in a literal sense. Kids don't like to talk to old farts and honestly he didn't care too much either when he was their age.
He spends his days sitting on his porch people watching. He admittedly gets an itch to join them but continues to do so hoping that it will sink in that this is his worth now. By the evening he is worn out, his seventy-six year old body unable to properly handle anything of interest to him. After being made aware of his worsening vision by an Optometrist, he avoids television and reading even with his expensive, custom glasses. Instead while indoors he likes to do handy work, even when things don't need to be fixed or are beyond his physical limitation to do so. Jin's always had a soft spot for building with his own two hands, despite the pains it gives him now.
His work ethic is awe inspiring so it ticks him real good that he is forced to just sit on his saggy rear end. His jobs allowed him to meet many interesting people and expel his anxiety of doing nothing. He's still a very anxious man but sore old bones and a delay in proficiency got him canned five years ago. He's not in a nursing home yet but it's only a matter of time until his nephew insists. He doesn't look forward to being tended to.
He never had any dreams when he was young but now he wishes that he had paid more attention to the rock era. He had wanted a family but that ship had sailed long ago. He's a huge fan of alternative & indie rock and plays it on the radio while driving, not that he's suppose to anymore; his license having been revoked four years ago. The teenagers just think he's a grandpa trying to be cool and failing.
The game was actually a compromise from his nephew. If he enjoyed it, the pushy relative would bring him every Tuesday and Sunday to play but only if uncle agreed to at least have a live-in aid. That boy with the good head on his shoulders had won his stubborn uncle over his first session. The old coot loved the game and was willing to be taken care of, in the real world at least.
