Another day, another mess of riddles. By Ken's count, this was the second or third last day, depending on what time they decided to deactivate the event. He wasn't sure it would matter - with school the following Monday, his time was going to end up being cut short. At best he'd get a few in, but he had little doubt there were layabouts with plenty of spare time who'd run well ahead of him simply by brute forcing it. There was little need for accuracy when you had infinite tries.

The wormmon followed close at his heels, the three pieces of candy still being held by him. Ken wouldn't even talk to him, no matter how many compliments he gave. Maybe he could answer one of the riddles right today and impress him - or maybe, just maybe, he'd been too nervous and stay quiet.

His fangs dripped with saliva as he spoke.

I've little strength, but mighty powers;
I guard small hovels and great towers.
But if perchance my master leaves,
He must ensure he safeguards me.

Another riddle - this time from a digimon that was even less imposing then the last one. An 'evilmon' - the most cliche of all digimon names. The riddle was a boring one - nothing particular stood out, but it wasn't particularly hard either. What needed to be kept safe? What had no strength, but lots of power? What-

"It's a key." The wormmon answered, looking up at Ken and expecting some sort of positive response. He would be happy that he didn't have to lower himself to answering, wouldn't he?

Not so. Ken immediately lashed out - punting the wormmon hard. "What the hell do you think you're doing? What if a digimon's answer doesn't count?!"

He laughs and throws a piece of candy at them, "another riddle for you."

A leathery snake,
With a stinging bite,
I'll stay coiled up,
Unless I must fight.

A digimon's answer did count, it seemed. That was a relief - at least he hadn't lots his chances at riddles because of his idiotic wormmon. The moment the new riddle was out of his mouth, Ken shot the cowering digimon a look. "Don't you dare answer again." He snapped.

This riddle, at least, was easy - taking only a moment's thought. "A whip." He answered, the wormmon moving over to get the next piece of candy.

Despite the fangs, he grins and tosses another candy.

For our ambrosia we were blessed,
by Jupiter, with a sting of death.
Though our might, to some is jest,
we have quelled the dragon's breath.
Who are we?

Of all the riddles, this was one of the ones Ken was uncertain of. He couldn't connect the pieces - Jupiter, the god, Ambrosia, dragons... he couldn't put the pieces together, and it was driving him slightly mad. The moment he was done, he was going to have to go and look it up - unwilling to be caught not knowing something.

As it was, he had a rough guess. How many things had a 'sting of death'? His eyes flicked to the wormmon's behind, before deciding that no, that didn't count. "A bee or a wasp." One of hte two - or a yellowjacket, or any other number of varieties, but with any luck the game wouldn't be that specific.

He does a jig and twirls before fading away.
The last and final candy is left where they once stood.

With the digimon gone, Ken opted to loom over the cowering wormmon, anger still far from gone. "You almost cost me a riddle." He snapped, not at all pleased. How dare it? How dare it? "Keep your mouth shut next time."

If there even was a next time - he only had, what, one more day? He was probably far from winning, but at least he could try. One more round, maybe - if he didn't end up getting saddled with more classwork.
