Garuda was here for a visit. She was always visiting. Purawna stood beside her, as always, staring at the crowd. That was what they did most of the time. Stand and stare at the crowd, hoping that they would be someone who reminded her of Kei. She knew better to grab any boy off the street to ask them for their real name. They would never tell her; some even told her off. So now she knew better. She had to become stronger. A 'normal' tamer did not earn their respect. Garuda would fight until she had a rank -- but sometimes she would look at her partner and became unsure. Purawna liked to fight or so she said but her techniques so far hadn't been that useful. They were surprising, unique even, but that was not enough to be useful offensively. Hot Nuggets -- Purawna didn't know what would happen if it used that attack, but they needed to train a little more. Just a little more and maybe they would be able to learn that technique. It would be more useful than Fresh Shrimp, hopefully. Again, her eyes glanced over the crowd. No, not yet. Garuda told him to meet her here. She wasn't sure what he looked like; it was only his display picture that she saw. His name was Masaru and here she would wait until he appeared. Byakko City wasn't a place they lingered at for too long, but it was lively as it always was during the day, decorated like real life versions of disney's Aladdin. The paths were lined with outdoor shops and tents.

Masaru passed by the establishments with little interest. Agumon, on the other hand, constantly stopped and stared at the food around them. They were waiting for someone, another person who needed their help. He cracked his knuckles as he placed his hands behind his head. "Too bad we can't do this for a living, eh Agumon?"

Earlier encounters with strangers told him to try to keep things quiet. Like Garuda said in the thread, she didn't want to blurt out everything online. (Something he'd forgotten before Agumon nudged him on the side.) "H-" He stopped, feeling a jabbing pain in his side. Masaru glared at Agumon who had a claw against his mouth. "Oh, right."

Although he cupped his hands around his mouth, no voice came out as he spoke. "Garuda! You here?" Instead, it would be directly to the tamer and her partner digimon, having her in game name sure helped a lot.

"Where ya? We're over by the fountain."

His disembodied voice floated near her ears, leading her towards the fountain. She muttered quietly to her partner to follow her; and both of them weaved through the bustling crowd trying to find the fountain. Finally pushing through, she found it; many people were sitting at the edges of the fountain, relaxing and looking at the evening sky turn darker. "Purawna, do you see them?" she asked. The Digimon pricked up its ears and scanned -- finally, it bounced up and pointed at the boy and his Agumon. She grinned and patted the pink one on its head. "Hello there," she whispered back, just playing a little -- now that they were near each other, these disembodied voices with their lips syncing probably sounded as weird as hell. Garuda then stretched out a hand and said normally, "Garuda. You must be Masaru, I presume?" She grinned and introduced her partner as well -- "This is Purawna, the EbiBurgermon. You probably haven't seen many of her species around, have you?" The partner grinned proudly, knowing full well that not many of her kind were chosen by the masses -- but Garuda did and she felt special. Garuda looked over at the crowd again and back at Masaru. Her smile faded away and she bit her bottom lip, frowning as she wondered how to start. Was it strange that she was about to trust a total stranger? Over PM and on the board, he seemed like a nice guy, someone dependable -- but what if he laughed or said it was impossible? She pressed the back of her neck and then whispered, "Thank you." Clearing her throat, she then continued, "It's my friend. I know he's here in the Digimon Online world -- but I don't know his handle, I'm not sure what he even looks like here." She paused, looking at Purawna for support. The partner nodded her on, telling her it was okay. "If I see him, I'm sure I'll know it's him. Do you have a staff member advisor? Your guild? Someone who could access to the real names of players? That's all I have." Purawna sat on the edge of the fountain, feeling the cool droplets of water tap on its back. It looked at the Agumon, cocked its head and asked, "What are those straps for?" None of the other Agumon she had seen around had those. Could they be something that helped improve his battle-skills? It then stood up and stretched to tapp Garuda on the shoulder: "They look like they battle. Maybe they could give us some pointers." Garuda nodded. "That too, Masaru. Now you've heard my story. "'sup." Masaru greeted, switching back to normal speech. Whispering was an odd thing to do. It required too much effort in thinking to talk to someone. He took her hand and shook. "Yeah. Haven't seen one of them before. Anyways, the name's Daimon Masaru." No one could ever accuse him of being a smart one. While there were others out there using names that were actual names, he was one of the few that literally chose their real name, never bothering to cover it up. As he would explain, only a real man doesn't wear a mask. "And my partner, Agumon."

The digimon in question stared at EbiBurgermon with an eager, almost hungry stare. Their hat looked so much like a hamburger bun that he just wanted to dig in and -- Masaru bopped the digimon on the head, seeing the drool. He grinned impishly, before squeezing the digimon's head. "Don't be doing shit like that." "Sorry Aniki." The digimon apologized between Masaru's fists.

Through the exchange, he'd missed hearing her say thanks, but did hear something. He composed himself once more, scratching the back of his head."Yeah? Sorry about that." She continued anyways, and he hoped he hadn't missed anything too important. Seemed like whoever they were looking for was pretty important to her. It was one of the reasons why he'd agreed to this. Maybe it was a lost brother or something.

Agumon, now freed from his tamer's grip, looked at the other digimon with a more friendly appearance. "The straps?" He looked at what they were pointing at, his arms. "These?" The dinosaur gestured. "They make ya stronger!" That wasn't true. They were simply part of his design, not that Agumon would readily admit it. "That and they're cool, right?"

"Uhhh." Masaru tried to think. Wasn't one of their folks a staff member? He wasn't that high up though, was he? "Maybe." He replied, half doubting his own words. There were plenty of names to go through, but it didn't deter him from pursuing this "mission." "Our turff's the West Sector. I'll spread the word we're looking for your guy."

He scratched his head. "Gonna be tough though, if ya only know his real name." Masaru told her bluntly. "Any clue what kind of partner he might get?"

He did grin when they commented on their battle presence. "Yeah, gotta be strong to lead a guild, ya know?" Fighting on Digimon Online was a lot less worrisome for his mother than back on the streets like he had been. "Always training, always fighting. Gotta protect the fam." It was a man's job.

Slowly, it rubbed its little hands together; it wondered when would it be strong enough to actually battle for us. It had been a while since Garuda and it arrived in the Digimon World; but she had not let it battle before, even though it had one good technique. Purawna could jump too, and it believed that its burger-cap would be useful when head-butting. Garuda admired the boy. When he said his true name, it was when she knew he had no discrepancies between his selves. She always had trouble with those -- her face when she was at home, her face back in school with her friends, her face when she was online, her face when she had been with Kei. They were all different; but his confidence -- "the name's Daimon Masaru." -- shone. Maybe meeting him really was a good idea. She twiddled with her thumbs, leaning against the edge of the fountain. Garuda realized that Masaru had not pried any more about the subject; instead, he had went on immediately on what he could do for her. This had been different with others back in real life. The police would question her about the nature of their relationship, her parents would wonder why she was so sure he was still alive, her friends would try to feign concern... Masaru was a breath of fresh air. She grinned at him as he talked about their 'turf' being the West Sector. When he was being blunt, she took it. Truth was something she had needed to hear, not just their opinions. It was going to be hard, she knew right from the start when she had joined the game, but she was not going to give up. Garuda folded her arms and nodded, saying, "It's going to be tough. I only have his name." Rubbing her chin, she continued, "About partners... I believe he would probably have the Crest of Reliability. I think Kei's pretty reliable." Upon hearing his exploits, she rubbed Purawna on its head and whispered, "Purawna really badly wants to battle, it seems. But I... I don't know how to guide her. What should I do? Should I let it just... try?" Garuda entered the game, thinking she could win easily, even with a digimon that resembled food. However, it was clear that they were at some kind of disadvantage. "A reliable guy huh?" Masaru echoed. "Weird he ain't talking to ya then." But he wasn't here to judge. "I'll keep that in mind." He tried to remember what was the type of digimon they had. "They're the fishy kinda things, right?" He looked to Agumon for confirmation, but the digimon gave a shrug. Neither of them paid attention to those sorts of things.

He looked at her genuinely surprised when she asked if they could help them train. "Now that's something we can do right now, yeah." The guild leader grinned. He might not be the best at finding people, especially with this sort background to it, but fighting was something he could do.

The tamer took a glance at their surroundings. It was far too crowded where they were. "Come on, I know a good place for that. It isn't that far." He reached to grab her hand and pull her along, as he ran.

He weaved through the crowd with ease. It was a maze of people, tall landmarks made it easy to find the arena. (Had he still had a grip on her hand) he let her go. "Here, there's a lot a room." He said.

There were pillars of sand mounted at each corner of the area. It was large especially designed for many to be fighting and training. There were a few pairs not to far away fighting one another. Another time Masaru might have joined, but he needed to get these two to stop shape.

"Attacks?" Masaru remembered her saying. "You mean those tech things?" He looked to his partner, who looked back at him. "We gotta work on what you can do without 'em first." Agumon grinned and nodded. The two of them fought without using any special attacks like them before. Their first meeting was them punching the heck out of each other. "Have ta work your way up." The dinosaur echoed his trainer's word with a croak.

Masaru had seemed like a solid person so far, someone who probably would take her side and believe her no matter what, if she was his friend. However, considering that they were mere acquaintances, she knew not what to say. This was compounded by the fact that she did not know exactly why Kei ran away and left her by herself. She always thought she could rely on him. If he killed himself, he would've asked me to do it with him. She shrugged when he asked her what kind of Digimon Tamers with that crest had. Garuda knew upon entering the game that Digimon could actually 'Digivolve' into something new. Most of them looked forward to it; but Garuda didn't know how to feel towards that. What would Purawna want to be? Purawna never thought much about it -- "When it comes, it comes. We'll decide then!", it always said smilingly. Almost without warning, he grabbed her hand; a blush seemed to grow from within -- and she immediately thought of Kei. They used to hold hands once a in while. He said that no experience could truly be shared unless they were right next to each other. Purawna quickly latched herself on Garuda's back and she stumbled a little, trying to keep up with Masaru. When they reached, Garuda was in awe of the surroundings. She had not been in a place like this before. People were already battling her; she eyed two tamers going at it. However, it seemed that the tamers stood behind -- was that how it was? Shouldn't they participate as well? Maybe... maybe it was good. She looked at her own fist and wondered how she would do in a brawl, if it ever came down to it. "Oh? Then I think I bought them for nothing," she said. Hot Cutlet and Fresh Shrimp had so far, seemed to bring nothing but trouble. Eyeing Purawna, she blurted out, "But how is Purawna going to fight?" Her partner raised its little fists, tried to look intimidating, but failing to do so, scratched its little burger hat. They were at an absolute loss. Garuda sighed and said, "At least Agumon has claws and teeth. All Purawna has..." The Digimon raised up a piping-hot cutlet in her hand. "Hot Cutlet," it said.
