Digimon Online
The internet was frankly put someone else's cup of tea. The perks she readily accepted as consolation for that fact. Any gratitude otherwise was merely being polite on her part. A friend, quite a few actually, overseas introduced her to the game. No that wasn't exactly right. She had heard of it as had the rest of the world excluding third world countries. This was all so improbable. She could hardly believe herself for coming all this way, leaving her real world body open for who knows what, all on the silly notion nothing ventured nothing gained. Her father was more excited about throwing money towards the adventure than she was, even unprofessionally bringing his daughter along on a business trip to Japan, something or another about getting a better experience in the original birth place of the game. She so desperately wished she could lecture him or outright refuse as she does in her daydreams but that would be improper.
A cultured lady was poised and if not a negotiator knew when to keep her lips sealed. She did not, could not oppose the head of the household. That being said she still found this morning's news to be flabbergasting. They were staying? Simply outrageous. Some nonsense about mergers and shares. It was not her future so she didn't care for the gears and cogs of it. She had only learned enough Japanese to hold cookie cutter conversations to ensure that she did not embarrass herself. She would only poke her head in for a minute then it is straight to studying till her blonde hair turns into a rats-nest. That is if there are any hairs left after she is done pulling them out over being illiterate to the game's directions.
The building she was finally transported to was scifi-esque yet all the while somehow bored her. Exceedingly flashy is what the kids these days wanted wasn't it? Seemed all too serious from her perspective. For little trolls that was, personally she was relieved to not have to deal with some annoying singing monsters or spaz-inducing fireworks. With any luck if the place retains its not-heart-attack-inducing-charm she might even be willing pay it a visit when chewing on pencils and counting the pocks on her ceiling gets old. She actually quite liked being here and would admit it to herself if her subconscious were more dominate. As of yet she hasn't found an excuse for not having an excuse to not play.
