The West Sector isn't safe either. A fiery digimon strikes the snow and frost. The snow is soft now, melting. It's another hazard for the tamers. There may be another avalanche. He spits molten fire at his opponents. His cry is heard echoing through out the mountains. Only one platform lay barren, large enough for them to confront the digimon -- but will they manage?

The rules are as follows:

• You must post within 24 hours of the post above. The "count" starts from the moment this thread is put up.
  
• A post order is established after the first cycle has gone. (Person One, Person Two, Person Three, Staff Member.) Anyone part of the group may post first.
  
• If there is no post within 24 hours, that person is skipped over and removed ICly from the battle. They will not receive anything.
  
• The thread ends on November 1^st. There are no extensions.
  
• The team must defeat him to win.

ruki had signed up for the halloween boss event mainly to show off her skills, and to prove her words of being a bad ass tamer. as part of magami staff, she could have known what was going to be the boss to fight, but, she wasn't privvy to that information. to know what was coming up was an unfair advantage, while it could make their win easier, she much preferred to be on the same page as the others. in preparation for the upcoming battle, ruki had purchased a tech for renamon, diamond storm, so that she may be of better use in battle. standard kicks, punches and bites wouldn't do much compared to an actual tech from a digimon. or so she thought.

heading towards the north sector, into freeze mountain, ruki's breathe seen in front of her with each exhale. for a few moments the tamer began to check out the place of battle, reaching down to touch the soft, wet snow that littered the ground. that was both good and bad: they could use it to get their opponent to slip, but it could also cause avalanches. and one of them may end up slipping instead. ruki was silent as she thought. each digimon had a weakness. each arena had something that could be used as a weakness against their enemy. theirs was snow. if they could get an avalanche going it could possibly bury their opponent in snow. trouble was, it could very easy bury them as well.

abandoning her standpoint, ruki padded closer to the boss, yet not attacking just yet. never in her life had she fought a creature such as this, surrounded, or quite possibly made of fire. that alone brought one weakness to mind, and ruki wondered why this creature was in snow, when snow was frozen water, and water could douse fire. it couldn't be that easy could it? ruki wasn't about to trust it, because looks could be deceiving, and this could be another one of those times.

"he's big and he'll pack a punch. make him do some of the work." ruki spoke, having had a plan with renamon from the start, approaching this as just another battle. big digimon normally were strong yes, but they also were more apt into expending some of that energy trying to attack, especially if they were slow. a smaller. nimble digimon could leap away from the attacks without too much effort, leaving the bigger digimon out of breathe, so to speak.

this was a team battle though, and she would have to work as a team, whenever they arrived. but surely she could distract the boss so the others could get in a few attacks. with a nod, as if reading her tamers mind, renamon darted forth as ruki padded slowly into the main portion of the 'arena.' pausing for a split second, renamon scooped up some rapidly melting snow, throwing it directly towards death meramon, and darting towards the side in hopes that the boss would follow her line of sight, leaving the main entrance free for the others to come and organize their attacks.

It was not the frozen ground that Mai remembered experiencing when he was here. The chick had problems moving through melting snow; Mai had on boots when he entered the arena, so it was less of a problem for him. This way though, speed could be hindered -- perhaps entering as Flybeemon would help the little Hyokomon. His talons were thin, creating a lot of pressure on the snow; and every step he took, he needed Mai to help pull him out. "Wouldn't it be easier if I just carried you?" Mai asked; but pride was pride and the bird Digimon would not let himself be carried. A girl; she stood confidently -- and then Mai saw it: the area boss. The towering digimon covered in dark flames and chains was the cause of the soft snow. Mai had to make a quick decision, there and then: Hyokomon could not traverse in such weather, but he had techniques, while Flybeemon could probably fly about in the air but he had no techniques to speak of. Looking at the massive size of the Digimon, Mai nodded at the Hyokomon: digivolve. The Hyokomon spun, despite the snow, and data collected around the chicken. Mai saw this only a few times and it never ceased to amaze him when out of the glowing cocoon, the Flybeemon shot out. Buzzing, the insect digimon looked to Mai for instructions. Mai shot a look at the girl's Renamon; throwing wet snow on a fire Digimon made some sense. With a point at the Renamon, Flybeemon understood Mai's instructions and gathered snow into his hands, packing tight enough to smash into the area boss. Next, recon: Mai pointed at the boss and the information spilled out in front of him. Death Meramon. Attacks by spitting heated metal and flailing flaming metal chains. The boss let out a roar as the snowballs came. Mai looked around; it was only this platform. Renamon and Flybeemon might be agile enough to dodge any attacks but the girl and himself -- could they? Mai started to run towards a small boulder; it wasn't much cover but it was the best he could do at this time. He shouted at the girl, "We should take cover, just in case." He hoped he didn't seem like a coward then. If she had a better idea, she could share it. What had Hero signed up for? He thought that, maybe, he'd be taking on an adult Digimon with just his Lopmon. What he saw in the distance as he approached their designated battle area wasn't an adult at all. This was a Perfect Digimon. All Hero had was a child! But as he scanned the area for ideas on how he was supposed to win against this, he noticed two other human figures. A male and a female- accompanied by two Digimon of their own. Were they his audience? The way that they started chucking snowballs and one even digivolved? It made Hero realize that they weren't his audience at all. Dammit, he was late.

Lopmon was grabbed by the ears and pulled up onto Hero's shoulders. The Digimon was slowing him down as she became interested and amused by the amount of slush between her toes. Hero made a run for it, scouting out their field as he went. It was a miracle that Hero never once slipped and fell as he slid across the slush toward the others. Maybe it was experience, as he remembered all the icy lakes back home. Or maybe it was the fact that Lopmon's ears were spread wide, using them as a form of balance and wide resistance when they needed to break. They slid to a halt beside the boulder, barely giving a glance at the boy who was already there. "Lopmon, playtime's over. Go!"

Grabbing Lopmon by the hands he spun around three times and threw the Digimon out into the icy field as far as he could manage. He slush slid under his feet, nearly falling to the ground if the boulder hadn't been behind him to stumble and grab onto him, keeping a good hold. Baseball and pitching had never been Hero's forte. Lopmon didn't get far, but he was thrown high, ears flapping outwards to glide safely to the ground. "Party time!" Lopmon shouted gleefully, padding quickly over to the other Digimon duo. They seemed to have an idea going! The rabbit needed to help out.

Lopmon's hands were much too small to hold and pack snow into balls much larger than pebbles. But that shouldn't have been a problem at all. There were other ideas. His ears buried beneath the snow, turning his body to fling it in the air. But it didn't stop there. As his body turned, it kept on turning, his ears starting to spin, growing faster with each moment passing. "Petit Twister!" Lopmon shouted, a tornado being born from the movement of his ears, which sucked up the thrown snow as it was fired toward the SkullMeramon. As if a tornado wasn't bad enough, it was like a miniature snowstorm was being shot at the massive beast of a Digimon man.

The snowballs did not harm him. His blue flames had grown brighter and burned them before even reaching. He laughed as the snow whirlwind hit him. It tickled a little more than it should have. The digimon would have to deal with it quick. Raising a hand, he shot the metal chain out, to strike and tangle the lopmon that was irritating him. The digimon would serve to be a good hostage.

throwing snow was a safe way to test the boss digimon's weakess to ice and water, and as renamon kept darting around, throwing snowball after snowball at the fire digimon when ruki realized she was no longer alone. someone else had come upon the scene, obviously another to fight the boss, and she watched in slight envy when data began to swirl around the hyokomon. digivolving. well crap. ruki wasn't that far, having only had enough to buy a tech, grudgingly she did know that a digivolution could help them win this battle. "i'm not sure if it'll work. water and ice seem like a great weakness against him, but who knows." that would be a little too easy, as ruki noted previously, and her words were her way of greeting the other player. taking a step back, wet slush squished beneath her feet, tips of her red colored shoes darkening as the cold and wet started to seep in.

hearing words about taking cover, ruki knew he was right. while it may be a coward move, renamon couldn't be worrying about protecting ruki from the death meramon's attacks, so the girl darted towards the boulder and a hissing sound emanated from behind her: a split second she would have been burned as fire touched snow, melting the ice into still cold liquid. ducking behind the boulder, next to her team mate, ruki peeked out from the boulder's edge, surveying the rapidly dangerous platforms. this was worse than she initially expected. death meramon wasn't even slowing down by the snow balls thrown at his body and face. "we need to hit hard and fast. but he'll probably be able to stop some of the attacks." there was only one solution and it meant playing tag with the fiery beast. "normally i'd say hit him with all we have but i don't think it'll work this time. what we need to do is to tag team him."

what was tag teaming exactly? well ruki would explain what tag teaming meant for her in this sort of situation. still crouched behind the boulder, her hands gripped the rough edges for purchase as the ground seemed to tremble with each step the massive digimon took. "one distracts, the other attacks. then the attacking digimon can keep distracting so that the other digimon can attack. it won't work forever but we should be able to get some attacks in." ruki paused as the voice of a digimon hit the air and ruki knew that their third team mate had arrived. as soon as the third player was close enough to hear, ruki repeated her plan of action. with three it was even better. "glad you made it." she added: it would be easier with three attacking. however, things weren't looking so good on the boss front. the snow didn't even touch him, which confirmed ruki's thoughts that it wasn't going to be that easy, and secondly, a massive chain had shot from death meramon towards lopmon!

pushing away from the boulder, ruki stood in the field, a clear target if death meramon decided to attack her, but too bad. with her wide vision, she could make a better plan, and with lopmon in danger, ruki called for renamon to attack. renamon nodded, the remaining slush on her claws dropped to the ground with a wet thunk, before the fox darted side to side, trying to get behind the boss monster. if she was able to get the creature's attention, then the other digimon could launch an attack with less response time for death meramon to counter. all in theory of course. "pick on someone your own size!" renamon snarled, leaping into the air and crossing her arms over her chest. the telltale glow of white began to appear before she let loose a storm. a diamond storm! after that was done, she landed with grace on her clawed feet, ready to weave to and fro to, hopefully, avoid any attacks that she may get from attacking death meramon.

Mai let out a yelp when the chains started to tighten around the brown Digimon; and yet, he realized that Flybeemon had no techniques to speak of that he could use at this point. Hyokomon wouldn't be that useful as well; without the soft padding that both Renamon and Lopmon had on their paws, the talons would keep him sinking in and his close-quarter techniques could only do so much. He bit his lip. It was better as a Flybeemon -- an Armor Digimon was technically stronger, wasn't it? The muscular stinger whipped around behind Flybeemon as he flew; and Mai shouted, "Sting the opponent, Fly!" Flybeemon turned around with a singular nod. Although it might be more useful with huge amounts of snow, at this point it was clear that snowballs were not the way to go. We need to buy some time and make him release the Lopmon now, Mai thought. Tag-teaming was a good idea but with no particular attacks that could affect the beast, they were stuck as of now. With a quick scan of his team-mates, he remembered their names: all their members had short sweet names. Good. They were all practical, Mai knew. Shouting over to Hero, "Hero, any ideas? What should we do next?" He definitely wasn't sure what he could do. Flybeemon had heard the explanation of tag-teaming and decided to try it, flying to behind the Death Meramon. As the Diamond Storm fly in the direction in the front of the Death Mermon, he poised his stinger and with a sharp downwards motion, aimed it right in the back of the Death Meramon's neck. (ooc: I will be gone this weekend without wifi .___. might be kicked out of the competition. There was little avoiding the chains that started quickly wrapping around Lopmon's small body. She shouted at the sudden hit, her body wriggling and pulling in hopes of getting free. Instead, her ears wrapped around the chains that held her. It made her feel less like she was the one being caught and more like she was catching him.

Still, she was still smaller and, due to the level difference, much weaker. Lopmon was holding her breath as she pulled on the chains with all her might. She didn't think she could bring him down, but she could keep him occupied. Those chains came from his hands and were wrapped around his arms. If she could prevent him from using those arms, they might be able to gain some form of upper hand.

Hero, even after their attacks proved to be no use and his own Digimon was shackled and stopped from going anywhere or being much use, was serious. He wasn't going to balls this up for his team. He knew Lopmon could handle this! Too bad he wasn't the big leader type. He was supposed to be the Hero. But he didn't have the slightest plan if water couldn't put out fire. Maybe they could blow it out like a candle. Was that why Lopmon's technique had a little effect on the massive beast? At least more of one than the snow.

Swallowing the nervous lump in his throat, his fingers clenched into tight fists, nails digging into the gloves he wore. His head jerked up right, turning quick to stare at the boy- Mai, was it?- who called to him. He offered a wide smile, despite how nervous he was. Hero had to be optimistic for the good of the team, but he didn't have a clue what he was doing. "Hit him with everything we've got. We need to find what works best on him. I can get Lopmon to distract him! We'll keep him occupied," Hero decided, his head nodding firmly at his decision. Unless they had better ideas. If this didn't work, they could switch. One of them could be the distraction and Lopmon could try out her moves again. They had done something- at least a little.

They didn't seem to get it. Throwing these puny snowballs had no effect on him. They only seemed to intensify his rage. The flames around him only grew brighter. Water evaporated. At least he had that bothersome Lopmon in his grasp. He pulled the digimon back, using him to take care of that armor level digimon aiming for him. Like swinging a mace, he attempted to use him to take the blunt of the diamond storm and eventually fly into the Flybeemon. Lopmon's meager strength wasn't a match for his, but a few shards of the Renamon's attack aimed true.

renamon quirked a toothy smirk at the larger digimon, trying to provoke him enough to focus all attention on her. small and nimble enough to evade some attacks, if she could keep that focus, maybe the others could do some extra damage for free. with lopmon in chains, renamon couldn't risk another diamond storm, and ruki could see her partner facing a dilema. the same dilema the tamer was facing now as she listened to hero speak in reponse to mai's questions.

"if we attack now, lopmon could easily bare the brunt of our attacks. are you willing to let your partner get potentially hurt?" ruki asked with a neutral expression upon her normally cold features, one blue eye arched as she poised the question. now she was thinking back to weaknesses that one could have if they were a fire digimon. "we can try causing an avalanche. i doubt that fire can melt all that snow. or, enough wind may snuff the fire out." ruki murmured before glancing over to renamon. the teenager didn't need to say anything because renamon knew to be careful, to make sure her attacks didn't hit lopmon by mistake.

tag teaming would have been a great idea but with lopmon chained and in a position to be badly injured, ruki wasn't sure she wanted to take the risk. unless hero was okay with it. had it been a wild digimon she would attack without hesitation.

scanning her digivice, and checking out what items she had, ruki gritted her teeth when she saw she didn't have a defense mod to throw at lopmon to help reduce any damage from attacks. damn.

renamon kept darting across the platform, getting close before dodging back. standard attacks, such as kicks and punches, weren't going to cut it. the heat and flames were too intense. "water won't have any effect." renamon called back, light as a feather upon her feet. trying to get into a position where her diamond storm wouldn't hurt lopmon, renamon tried it again. the familiar white glow and shards that pelted with a razor edge.

"try aiming an attack at his face." ruki suggested, trying, again, to think of any weakness that death meramon might possess. "or, maybe we can get him to slip on the melting snow."

it was something. and something was better than nothing.

It was no worry; the Flybeemon had seen it coming -- the chain swung over, holding the trapped Lopmon tight and the insect digimon hovered upwards rapidly. Movement was not a problem for Flybeemon; and yet what would that do? Mai had thought Flybeemon, as small and agile as he was, could enter into the Death Meramon's range and smack down hard with his stinger. Considering the hugeness of the boss digimon and the relatively smaller size of the armor digmon, it should work; but he had underestimated the larger digimon's battle sense. The Death Meramon swung the chain expertly. Mai heard what the girl was saying. He agreed with her. It was more important to keep all their members intact and unhurt for now -- their larger number was the only thing that kept the sides balanced. Looking at how the steel chains followed Flybeemon, Mai commanded, "Don't stop moving, Fly -- keep dodging; move the chain." Flybeemon understood those words. He too heard the girl say to make him slip. The ground was slushy and soft; it provided little traction. Flybeemon darted around the Death Meramon and when he saw the chance, he would dart between the boss' ankles -- there he would either sting if it was safe or if the chain followed, he would try to trip the boss up. "We need an avalanche. But... but we can't exactly cause one, can we?" Mai asked. words: 000 tags: name notes: none. find me somebody to love

After nearly witnessing his Digimon end up hit by their own allies attack, Hero winced and clapped his hands down over his eyes. He didn't want to watch. She might have been a bunny rabbit of data, but she had to feel pain just as much as he did, right? He couldn't bear to see it. "Y... you're definitely right. We need to free her. If we cause an avalanche, I don't want her stuck in it. And if wind proves to be damaging, Lopmon we'll be a big help with her twisters," Hero decided, wondering why he'd been foolish enough to think his own Digimon wouldn't be used for a shield. This wasn't working out. They weren't going anywhere.

Lopmon was squirming and even trying to bite at the chains, doing anything to get free. Her ears kept swinging back and forth, trying nothing more than to spin them around, but her body was stuck and she could never get spinning in the right motion to cause another petit twister. "Bully! Get it through that thick metal skull of yours that you can't win this. You're evil!" Lopmon shouted in frustration, kicking at the restraints and breathing in. She tried to hold her breath and suck in her belly, wanting to wiggle through the chains. All of this being swung around was starting to make her feel nauseous. Would she really end up useless the entirety of the battle?

Evil? He was a program. They were neither good or bad. Regardless, his grip on the lopmon seemed to tighten as he pulled the chains back to himself, further enveloping them in more chains. He found it surprising that the flames that extended from his fists to his hands were not effecting the digimon as well as it should have. They should be burning, crying in pain.

The mix of diamond storm and the Flybeemon's tricks made their mark. He slipped and fell, but not before taking Lopmon with him. He swung the chain, intent on making Lopmon a landing pillow and soften the fall.

He will rise up quickly again. It seemed as though they weren't planning on taking their ally from his clutches.

"the snow is weak, melting from the fire. an avalanche can be caused by enough force. either a banshee scream, which none of us can accomplis, or enough attacks at the base should cause enough force to let loose the snow." ruki murmured, again looking at the base structure to see where best it would be to attack in hopes of causing a massive avalanche. "or, we can get death meramon to attack for us. he's stronger, with fire. should be easier."

first thing was first and that was to get lopmon out of those horrible chains. that close to those flames surrounding death meramon could not be healthy. "but first we need to get lopmon out. her in those chains are more bad than good." ruki nodded towards hero, her expression indicating he'd done the right thing in not letting lopmon be a sacrifice. "renamon will attack the chains. mai, do you and your partner wish to keep distracting him enough?"

while she would have simply attacked with no regard, these were her team mates, and it was important to work as a team. and with death meramon now upon the ground, as ruki watched intently as the previous attacks got him slipping on the wet slush, now was the time to launch attacks, and get lopmon out of there.

"diamond storm!" renamon aimed the attack directly at the chains, hoping there would be enough damage done to free the trapped digimon within. when the first set of sharpened white shards ended, renamon let loose another, darting forwards before the second set had ended, reaching the chains and aiming a normal punch. everything was put into that punch, while a second claw had raked the snow, throwing it towards his face in hopes that it may make him loosen those chains.

the fox recoiled soon after her attack, snowy white fur scorched, burned as flesh underneath seared in agony, causing renamon to pack snow upon the burns, allowing the frozen slush to help cool the wounds yet she wasn't going to be able to punch for a while yet.

"we need to continue to damage him. but we also need to find his weakness." ruki had seen her partner getting injured, and she kicked a small amount of snow in frustration, taking a deep breathe to assess their options.

Flybeemon buzzed, his wings only a blur as he swooped right in front of the Death Meramon as his own chains tripped him up, trying to scoop the Lopmon out of the way of the fall -- with one Digimon down, the battle would be much harder fought. His eyes were filled with determination; saving the Lopmon was priority, but keeping himself alive was also important. If he failed to swoop in in time, he would rather have dodged out of the Death Meramon's way and let him crash into the snow. Mai watched with urgency, eyes on the battle but his ears caught onto what Lupo had said. Distraction was always good; but full on assault was as well. Since the Death Meramon was down now, it was imperative to keep the son of a bitch down as long as possible. The boss was strong; and it seemed like he could get up from the slushy snow at any point. As the Renamon aimed her Diamond Storm towards the chains that wrapped around the Lopmon, Mai caught the Flybeemon's eyes and he pointed at the back of his head. So far, he had not managed to directly attack the boss. However, he did manage to cause a fall; and with his confidence boosted, he gathered his energy into his stinger and released a bolt of lightning -- Lightning Sting (Fly Spark)-- at the back of the boss digimon's head, hoping to keep him on the ground face-down. "I can continuing distracting; but we should try keep him down. If he can't see, he can't attack!" Mai said. There was little time to think of what to say; in situations like this, it was almost like the barriers between him and others crumbled away. There was no time to be shy. "And if his flames are hot enough, on the ground with more surface area, it's more likely that the bottom will melt enough to trap him." The Renamon looked hurt as Lupo covered the burns with snow. Mai could not afford for that to happen to Flybeemon; long distance attacks and speed would win this battle for them. His head whipped at Hero: "If Lopmon could somehow muster energy to do a Petit Tornado in the opposite direction of the chains, maybe it'll be set free." It was just a quick suggestion -- he wasn't even sure if the Lopmon had enough strength.
